Barbara M. (Babcock) Fitzgerald, a retired Vice President at Metro Credit Union, passed away in her home on Saturday, May 25th, with her loving family at her side. Barbara was born in Everett in 1939. She was raised in Everett by her mother Hazel, and graduated from Everett High School with the Class of 1957. While raising her two children, she attended secretarial night school, and began working at Metro Credit Union as a Teller. Over the years, Barbara worked her way up through the bank, and was the Vice President of the Loan Department when she retired.
In 1958, Barbara married her sweetheart, the love of her life, Thomas E. Fitzerald in St. Polycarp’s Church in Somerville. They settled down together in Everett to raise their family. After over 30 years in Everett, they relocated to Malden. Their love made Malden a beautiful home for four generations to celebrate many birthdays, holidays and many special memories.
Barbara enjoyed spending time with her “Card Club”, a group of women that got together to play cards, visit casinos, and took many vacations. She also loved shopping; whether it be in stores, or on line, and that was an excuse to spoil the many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The only one who was spoiled more than them was her cherished dog Bear, whom she showered with more love, affection and treats.
She is survived by her children, Susan H. Doolin of Southbridge, and Thomas E. Fitzgerald Jr of Manchester, NH, her grandchildren Caitlyn D. and her fiancé Michael LaBarge, Sean and wife Stephanie Fitzgerald, Timothy and his wife Mindy Chick, Casey F., Dylan F. and Ian F., and her great-grandchildren, Olivia L., Emma L., Adeline L., Chloe D., Camryn D., and Kinsley D. And many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
