Barbara J. Holden

Barbara J. Holden, a longtime resident of Zephyr Hills, FL, passed away unexpectedly on August 9th. Barbara was born in Boston in 1967, the daughter of Robert L. Holden and Mary R. Collangelo. She was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School with the Class of 1985. Barbara went onto have a successful career in the automotive industry. She was the definition of a "go-to" professional in office, sales, and managerial roles, including Finance Manager. Barbara moved to Zephyr Hills, Florida, 17 years ago but remained an avid Boston sports fan. She was especially a fan of the Red Sox and the Patriots. Perhaps, her fondest sports memory was Super Bowl XLIX. In addition, she enjoyed traveling, cruises, scrapbooking, trivia, and spending time with her beloved cats. The most important of all things for Barbara were family and friends.

She is survived by her mother, Mary L (Rice) Colangelo. of FL, her sister, Michele L. Fortier, and husband Frederick of Malden, and her nephews, Fredrick Fortier Jr and Jamie L. Fortier, her Godparents Patricia (Rice) MacGibbon and William Rice in which she shared special relationships with both. Her aunts and uncles, Steve Rice, Ken Rice, Lois Rice Bishop Sylvia Rice Baumeister and their spouses, and her many cousins Laura, Steven, Kristin, Kimberly, Margaret, Joseph, Andrew, Steve, Katelyn, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Mary, Dianna ,Paul Jr., and Hayden, their spouses and their many many children and the most special best friends Jeffrey and Laura Dowgos.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Robert L. Holden.

Funeral from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Saturday, August 21st, at 8;45 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Sacrament Church, 14 Summer St., Saugus, at 10 AM. Interment to follow in Puritan Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 20th, from 4 - 8 PM.
