Beverly Joan (Donnelly) Hanifan, a resident of Stoneham, who had spent most of her life in Malden, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on April 3, 2012. She was 80 years old. Beverly was born in Brooklyn NY in 1932, the daughter of the late Frederick and Beatrice Donnelly. She moved to Malden at an early age where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Malden High School with the Class of 1950. In 1952, she married her sweetheart, Robert E. Hanifan in Sacred Hearts Parish in Malden. They settled down together in Malden to raise their family. Beverly and Bob shared 60 wonderful years together. They moved to Stoneham around 12 years ago.
After dedicating herself to raising their daughters, Beverly took employment with the Malden Police Department. She worked as a clerk for the department for over 10 years. Beverly was a communicant of St. Josephs Church in Malden.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Robert J. Hanifan, her daughters, Donna Mills and husband David of Topsfield, Debra Duffy of Stoneham, and Linda Hanifan and husband Gary Jemmott of NH., and her grandchildren, Robert Duffy, Brianne Duffy, Greg Mills, and Ryan Mills.
Funeral services will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Saturday, April 7th, at 8:00 AM followed by a service in St. Joseph's Church at 9AM. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 6th, , from 4-8 PM.
