Brian D. MacDonald, a lifelong resident of Malden, passed away on Friday, March 20th, at the age of 72 surrounded by his loving family. Brian was born in 1953, the son of Charles and Mary “Phyllis” MacDonald. He was raised and educated in Malden, attending the Beebe School where he met his future wife, Cathy Marshall, and then Malden High School where he graduated with the Class of 1971. After high school, he attended both Carnage Mellon College, and UMass Boston, before attending Bentley where he received his Masters Degree. He went on to work for IBM as a Systems Analyst, retiring in 2019.
In August of 1975, Brian married his childhood sweetheart, Cathy Marshall, and the two settled down to raise their family. Brian was a voracious reader, and loved taking walks and going to the beach. He especially loved family gatherings and adored his two grandchildren.
He was the loving husband of Cathy A. MacDonald, devoted father of Kenneth F. MacDonald and wife Justyna of Cape Coral, FL, and Kate L. Antaya and husband Jason of Haverhill, devoted brother of Terence MacDonald and wife Kathryn of Wakefield and Sherrill Hachey and husband Frank of Wilmington, and was the Proud Papa of Joseph and Kris. Brother in-law of Linda Corrente and her husband Richard of Malden and the late Henry Marshall, Jr., and his wife, Judy. In addition, he is survived by many adoring nieces, nephews, 2 great nephews, a great niece and many caring friends. He found companionship in his grand-dog, Kona.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Josephs Church, 770 Salem St, Malden on Wednesday, March 25th, at 10:00 AM.
