Carole Louise (Glennan) Kenny
It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Carole (Glennan) Kenny of Everett, Massachusetts, who peacefully passed away on July 24th at Forestdale Park Senior Living in Malden at the age of 83. Carole is survived by her devoted husband, Patrick Kenny. She was the loving mother of Maureen Woodworth, Patrick Kenny and Sheila Kenny. She is also survived by her sister Linda Libby and her husband Jack; her grandchildren Kelsey, Madison, Meghan, Liam, Nicholas, Sean, and Caroline; and her sons and daughter-in-law, Alan Woodworth, Stephen Kruchkevich, Kirk Lillmars and Wendy Kenny. Carole was preceded in death by her daughter Jennifer Lillmars, her grandson Brendan Woodworth and her brothers Fred and Gerry Glennan.
Born on December 2, 1941, in Everett, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Fred and Mae (O’Halloran) Glennan. Carole lived a life marked by warmth, resilience, and devotion to her family. Carole was an amazing Mom and Nana who was lovingly referred to as “Carole-L” by her husband and soulmate, Pat. She was known for her gentle spirit, sense of humor, and the attentive, caring kindness that she extended to everyone she met.
Carole loved warm weather, the beach, and bringing people together. Summers meant family trips to Silver Lake and Cape Cod, where she could be found floating in the water and chatting with anyone nearby. She gracefully embraced the chaos of raising kids and hosting lively family gatherings, always finding joy in shared meals, laughter, and togetherness. For Carole, nothing mattered more than time spent with family and friends.
Carole refused to be defined by a devastating brain aneurysm at the age of 42 that dramatically changed her life requiring years of rehabilitation and leaving her with a permanent speech impediment. Having been blessed with the Irish “Gift of the Gab”, this was especially difficult. Despite this, Carole always managed to be heard. She came to rely on her husband, Pat, to translate and interpret echoing her words and reflecting the deep love and bond they shared.
Carole, known as Nana, played a vital role in raising her grandchildren, filling their childhood with love, fun, and thoughtful surprises—whether it was a trip for ice cream or a small gift picked up just for them. She and “Papa” were always present, from babysitting in their younger years to cheering from the stands at countless games and events as they grew. Her unwavering presence and quiet acts of love made her a constant source of comfort and joy. Her family always knew they were at the center of her heart.
In her later years, Carole and Pat spent winters in Fort Myers, Florida, where they enjoyed the sunshine, made lifelong friends, and socialized at the Moose hall and shuffleboard courts. She shared these joyful times with her beloved sister Linda and brother-in-law Jack, creating memories full of laughter, music, and friendship. Carole never missed a chance to dance, sip wine, or enjoy a hot fudge sundae. Her joy for life and love for those around her never faded, and while we will miss her deeply, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Carole’s life will be held on August 3rd at Weir Mac Cuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, MA. Visitation from 2:00 - 5:00pm with a remembrance service at 3:30. Family and friends are invited to attend and share in remembering her remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Brain Aneurysm Foundation.
“Mom’s life was a gift to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.”
