Kyle, Catherine A. (O’Rourke) of Leominster Ma, formerly of Malden, Ma. Beloved wife of the late Joseph E. Kyle Jr., devoted mother of Joseph E. Kyle III and his wife Sue Leoncello-Kyle of Wakefield, Catherine A. Kennedy and her husband Kevin Kennedy of Leominster and proud grandmother to Caylin Anne Kennedy. Loving sister of the late Elizabeth Brady, James O’Rourke, Jeramiah O’Rourke and baby John O'Rourke. “Aunt Ag” to all her Brady and O’Rourke nieces and nephews whom she loved so much, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 28th, surrounded by her family at the age of 100.
Catherine was born in Charlestown, Ma in 1922, the daughter of John and Nora O’Rourke. Catherine was raised and educated in Charlestown, Ma and graduated high school at the age of 16 before enrolling in clerical school in Boston. She went on to become a bookkeeper for the HP Hood dairy company in Charlestown before retiring in the early 1980’s.
In 1947, Catherine married her sweetheart, Joseph E. Kyle Jr., at St. Mary’s Church in Charlestown. In 1965, they moved to Malden, Ma, where they lived for many years and raised their family. Catherine and Joseph shared over 36 years together until Joseph’s passing in 1983.
Catherine was always known for her bright smile and infectious laugh. She went out of her way to selflessly care for others, especially her family. She treasured spending time with the light of her life, her granddaughter, Caylin, with whom she shares the same birthday.
Funeral services for Catherine will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Thursday, September 1st. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 8:30 am – 9:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St, Malden, Ma at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
