Claudette J (Forti) Toro

FORTI-TORO, Claudette, age 69, of Byfield, MA died suddenly March 18, 2024 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. She was the daughter of the late Jeanne and Stanley Forti. Claudette grew up in Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School and received her paralegal degree from Newbury College. She worked for J.F. White construction on Deer Island and helped rescue homeless cats from the island. She was devoted to and worked tirelessly for over twenty years for the Veterans of Habitat P.L.U.S. in Lynn, MA as an Executive Assistant.

She is survived by her brother, Matthew Forti and his spouse Kathie Forti of Ocala, FLA, her sister, Bernadette Forti and her spouse, Susan Campbell of Byfield, MA; and her brother, Andrew Forti and his spouse Rick Espinola of Boxford, MA, nephew Matthew Forti and his spouse Erin of Methuen MA, niece Megan Knowles and spouse Matthew of Westford MA and niece Michelle Forti and partner Edward O’Mahony of Billerica MA, grandnephews Eddie and Henry O’Mahony, Killian Knowles and grandniece Alexis Forti. She is also survived by her former husband Robert Toro.

Claudette was a kind and gentle soul with a wonderful sense of humor and sharp wit. Everyone loved spending time with her because she was so easygoing and funny. Claudette loved spending time with her family, friends and animals. She was devoted to her cats, dogs and parrot and enjoyed reading and painting. The light of her love shall never be extinguished and we will carry her in our hearts forever.

Funeral services will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home 144 Salem Street., Malden, MA Thursday March 28th with visitation beginning at 10am and a service at 11:30.  Relatives and friends are kindly invited. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name may be made to Habitat P.L.U.S. Inc. or the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society.
