Denise S. Rowland, retired real-estate paralegal, devoted mother and free spirit, passed away peacefully
surrounded by loved ones on Monday January 16th , at the age of 60, after a long battle with Crohn's
disease. Denise was born in Cambridge in 1962, the daughter of Eleanor Gonsalves (DeAngelo) and
Oscar “Ray” Rowland. She spent part of her childhood in Cambridge until the family moved to Malden,
where she spent her teenage years and a majority of her adult life. She graduated from Malden High
School with the Class of 1980. She went on to become a Paralegal, working for the real estate firm
Marsh, Moriarty, Ontell & Golder.
Denise was known as a strong, wise, confident, independent, free spirit, who knew how to live life to the
fullest. Despite any pain, suffering, or hardship, she always knew how to smile big and laugh bigger. Her
will to live life was even larger.
She enjoyed music and loved to dance, she also enjoyed spending time in nature, whether it was taking
the dog for a walk in the woods or spending time on the beach and by the ocean that she loved so
much. She enjoyed visiting with her aunts, uncles and cousins. She always looked forward to family
gatherings.
She is survived by her children, Ryan M. Clough of Brooklyn, NY and Drew R. Clough of Everett, her step-
children, Scott C. Clough of Nashua, NH, Christina M. Clough-Tucker of Hudson NH, and Katie E. Clough-
Smith of Merrimack, NH., her former husband Albert W. Clough of Malden, her best friend who was like
a sister, Donna Como of Malden, her grandchildren, Cote, Ember, Kylee, Madison, Bryson, Ayden, and Lyla, her
great-grandchildren, Stevie and Sawyer, her dog, Wizely, as well as many, many loving cousins.
