Dorothy Mary Halloran
Dorothy Mary Halloran, 68, a longtime resident of Malden, died Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. She was born in October of 1943 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Earl and Dorothea (Maglione) Gilmore. Dorothy was raised in Boston before moving to Chelsea where she completed her education. After graduating from Chelsea High with the Class of 1961, she attended Nursing School. She became a registered nurse and began working for the Old Solders Home in Chelsea. In 1972, she married her sweetheart, Philip B. Halloran, in St. Stanislaus' Church in Chelsea. At that time she retired from nursing to focus on their family. Because Phil was in the service, they moved around to different locations including spending several years in Germany. The two finally settled down together in Malden 23 years ago. They shared nearly 40 years together. Aside from being a dedicated housewife and mother, she was also a regular bingo player at the games held on Bryant Street near their home.
She is survived by her husband, Philip B. Halloran, her children, Philip R. Halloran of Winchester, Patrick G. Halloran of Beverly, and Cathleen M. Halloran of Nashua, NH., her siblings, Lillian Petruzello of Malden, Annette Burkhardt of Melrose, Elizabeth Catanazariti of Malden, and Joseph Gilmore of Boston, and her grandchildren, Marina, Brian, and Stephanie.
