Edward Douglas Sypeck

Edward “Doug” Sypeck of Malden passed away June 17th 2023. Doug was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey July 1 st 1961 the only son of Edward J. Sypeck and Jane M. Sypeck (nee Collins) and later Jane M. Wicke. Doug was a graduate of New York University earning his Bachelor’s with a double major in Linguistics and English. He also studied Theater and Literature at University College London, England, and Computer Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Northeastern University. He met Karen, his soulmate and beloved wife of 19 years, in Newbury Comics on Newbury Street, Boston on February 7, 1999. They were married in Maui on July 17, 2003. They moved to Malden in 2010 where they lived very happily until his passing. Doug was a rockstar with amazing hair and exceptional taste in music and clothes. He loved to drive his Jaguar and cook spectacular meals every night for Karen and their guests. Doug is survived by Karen, his 36 year old parrot Greenpeace, and by many wonderful friends and family. Doug was predeceased by his parents Edward J. Sypeck (1929-1969) and Jane M.
Wicke (1930-2020).
Visiting hours and a service for Doug will be held at the Weir Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden,
MA on Saturday June 24 th from 11-1. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to MusiCares
