Elayne A. (Carleton) Symonds, of Malden, passed away at home on Thursday, May 7th, at the age of 94. Elayne was born in 1931, the daughter of Frederick and Millie Carleton. She was raised and educated in Malden, graduating from Malden High School with the Class of 1949. After high school she worked as a secretary for the Granite Pool Company, and also as a waitress locally. After her marriage to Joseph H. Symmonds, she dedicated herself to being a loving wife and mother. She and Jospeh spent many wonderful years together until his passing in 1996. Elayne was an avid painter, and enjoyed music and dancing, and loved to tend to her garden at the family cottage in Hillsboro, NH.
She is the beloved wife of the late Joseph Symonds, loving mother of Nancy Ferguson of Malden, cherished sister of Carollee Carleton of TN and the late Milton Carleton, devoted grandmother of Layne and Jayson, and proud great grandmother of Julianna Elayne, Aria, and Vincenzo.
Funeral services will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Thursday, at 8:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Josephs Church, Malden, at 10 AM. Interment to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
