Elly V (Toreson) Johnson

Elly V. (Toreson) Johnson, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Sunday, June 16th, at the age of 99, with her loving family by her side.  Elly was born in Sweden in 1924, the daughter of Carl and Elin Toreson.  At the age of 2 the family moved to the United States.  They lived in New Hampshire a little more than a decade before moving to Massachusetts and settling down in Malden, where Elly completed her education.  In November of 1946, Elly married her sweetheart, Carl E. Johnson, and they  settled down to raise their family.   They shared nearly 40 years together until Carl’s sudden passing in 1985.    Elly enjoyed writing, and had beautiful penmanship.  She also enjoyed traveling with her daughter.

She is survived by her children, Carl B. Johnson and wife Karen of Lynnfield, Kris Johnson of Hebron, NH, and Lynne Johnson of Malden, her grandchildren Chris and wife Dawn, Dwayne and wife Jen, Barry and wife Kerri, Jodi, Brad and fiancé Shannon, and Kyra, and her great grandchildren, Joe, Victoria, Julia, Massimo, Luca, Emilio, Zoey, Logan, Sabrina, and Emma. 

Elly was preceded in death by her husband Carl E. Johnson, her brother Carl W. Toreson, and her daughter in law, Linda Johnson. 

Funeral services will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St  Malden on Friday, June 21, at 10AM, with visitation beginning at 9 AM.  Interment to follow in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
