Geraldine "Jerry" Santo Obituary

Geraldine “Jerry” Santo, formerly of Malden, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 23, 2025, in Salisbury, MA, at the age of 89. Born in Allston, MA, Jerry was the cherished daughter of Frederick and Mila (Penwarden) Gallison. She grew up in Randolph, MA, where she began her lifelong journey of love, resilience, and dedication to her family.

Jerry worked as a stitcher and devoted her life to caring for those she loved. She was a compassionate caregiver not only to her husband and children but also to her foster children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy, and her home was always filled with warmth.

Jerry was the beloved wife of the late Patrick P. Santo, with whom she shared 45 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2000. Together, they built a large and loving family, raising their children with steadfast devotion and an enduring sense of humor.

Jerry’s passions included sewing, crocheting, knitting, gardening and ceramics, hobbies that reflected her patience and creativity. She found joy in creating beautiful, handmade treasures for her family and loved ones. Above all, Jerry loved spending time with her large family, cherishing every moment of connection and celebration.

She is survived by her children: Mila Tarallo and her husband Ed of Waltham; Patrick Santo of Tewksbury; Frederick Santo of Malden; Carl Santo and his wife Yvonne of New Hampshire; Geraldine Lauritzen and her husband Philip of Salisbury; Donna Seaman and her husband Derik of New Hampshire; and Thomas Santo and his partner Courtney Hughes of Malden and her siblings Carol Gallison and Donna Gallison. She is also lovingly remembered by her daughters-in-law Frances Monahan and Mary Connolly; her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

Jerry was predeceased by her husband Patrick, her children Paul Santo, Richard “Rickie” Santo, and Walter Santo, her daughter-in-law Deborah Rose, her son-in-law Michael Fahey and her siblings Helen Gallison, William Gallison, Roy Gallison, Frederick Gallison, Lillian Gallison, and George Gallison.

Jerry’s life will be celebrated with visitation on Tuesday, January 28th, from 4-8 pm at the Weir MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden. A funeral service will follow on Wednesday, January 29th, at 11 am at the funeral home, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
