Helen Elizabeth Bressler, 83, longtime resident of Malden who had recently moved to North Reading, died Monday, May 2, 2011 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington.
She was born 1927 in Dorchester, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Pastorelli) Bello. In Feb of 1948, she had married her sweetheart, Robert A. Bressler as he had just returned from his service during WWII. They moved to Everett in 1949 for about a year before settling down in Malden a year later. They shared over 55 years together until Roberts passing in 2004.
Helen worked as a clerk for the Registry of Motor Vehicles, including at the Malden office in Malden Square. She worked for the RMV until her retirement. In years past, Helen was a member of the Young Republicans, and also served as their secretary. She also enjoyed square dancing with her husband. In addition, she was an avid reader and liked to attend bingo games. Helen was a long time active member of St. Josephs Church in Malden.
Visitation for Helen will be at Weir - MacCuish Funeral Home on Thursday, May 12th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. All other services will be private at this time.
She is survived by her sisters, Joanne Praik of Salem, NH, and her sister in law, Ruth Zimmerman of PA, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Robert A. Bressler, and her parents, Charles and Mary Bello.
