James H. Phinney, a longtime resident of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, January 14th at the age of 62. James was born in Stoneham in 1963, the son of James and Selma Phinney. He was raised and educated in Malden. After completing his education, he enlisted in the US Army. After being reserved in the army, he returned to the Boston area before moving to Worcester which was his home for the past 30 years. He took employment with Reliant Medical Group as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, where he was still employed. In 2000, he married his sweetheart, Dora Maspaitella from Indonesia. They settled down to raise their family and began their adventures around the world with their children. By God’s grace, he traveled to 21 countries and made endless memories with his family. He had a strong faith in Jesus, his Lord and Savior. He enjoyed reading the Bible and Christian books, spending time with his family, and lived life to the fullest.
He is survived by his wife Dora, his mother, Selma Phinney of Malden, his children, Joanna Phinney and Joshua Phinney, both of Worcester, and his siblings, Carole Attarian of West Ossipee, NH, Christopher Phinney of Abington, Michael Phinney of Saugus, Candice Mejia of Deltona FL, and Colleen Phinney of Saugus.
James was preceded in death by his father, James H. Phinney Sr.
Funeral services will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Tuesday, January 27th, at 12 Noon, with visitation from 11- 12. Interment will follow in Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody. The family requests guests to wear shades of blue if possible which was his favorite color.
