Jean A. (Drapinska) Knowlton, a loving wife and mother, passed away on Saturday, March 7th, at the age of 101. Jean was born in Chelsea in 1924, the daughter of Francis and Gladys Drapinska. She was raised and educated in Chelsea, graduating from St. Rose High School with the Class of 1942. In April of 1947, she married her sweetheart, Chester Knowton, and the two settled down to raise their family. In addition to caring for the family, Jean had worked at the Daniels School in Malden for over 20 years.
She is survived by her children, Janet and husband Thomas Noonan of Stoneham and Marleen LoPresti of Malden, and her grandchildren, Julianne, Anthony, Matthew, Robert, Ryan, and Richard.
Jean was preceded in death by her siblings, Stella Barbado, Mary Demoski, Jose Zani, Gladys Rizza, Frank Drapinski, and Anna Symmonds, and her son in law Gary LoPresti, and her grandson, Gary LoPresti Jr.
Funeral services will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St Malden on Wednesday, March 11th, at 8:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Josephs Church, 173 Albion St, Wakefield, at 10 AM. Interment will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Saugus.
