Joanne M (Murphy) Simmer

Joanne M. Simmer (Murphy), 66, of Malden, Massachusetts passed away Friday June 30th 2023. She was born in Boston on August 14th 1956 to the late Joseph and Mary (Greenan) Murphy. Joanne was a graduate of St Patrick’s High School in Roxbury, and went on to earn her Associates Degree at Bunker Hill Community College. 

Joanne was the loving mother of Danielle Czekanski and Michael Simmer and doting mother in law to their spouses Craig Czekanski and Trish Simmer respectively and Circled by Taryn, Valerie and Alayna. . She was the spouse of the late James Kelly whose extended Kelly family had a significant place in her heart. Joanne will be remembered as the Flamingo Friday Queen especially by those she worked with at Tufts Medical Center in Boston for over 15 years. To all her friends from the Lords Academy, Bower St and especially the Speedwell Street girls; know that you had an extraordinary place in Joanne’s life.

Joanne had a passion for soaring in a hot air balloon and a special piece of her heart will always be in Horse Shoe Bay Bermuda which she always said was her happy place.

Joanne is survived by her children Danielle Czekanski of Wakefield, MA, Michael Simmer of Scottsdale AZ, her brother Joseph Murphy of Southboro, MA, her ex-husband David Simmer and his wife Isabel Simmer as well as countless other friends. 

Funeral services will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on July 5th from 4-8PM.
