John Francis Bernard

John F. Bernard, 68, of Saugus passed away August 20th 2023. John was born in Chelsea MA on August 15th 1955 the son of Francis and Concetta Gearraughty. John attended the Northeast Metropolitan School and graduated with the class of 1973. After high school he went on to join the Navy where he served for 3 years. He met his wife Bette (Doucette) and the two were married in 1983. During his free time John loved to read and was a big history and news buff. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, a good game of scrabble and spending time with family and friends.

John is survived by his wife Bette Bernard, his siblings Debra Strong, Susan Coston, Anne Marie Gearraughty and Francis Gearraughty as well as many other family members and friends.

Funeral services for John will be held at St. Joseph’s Parish in Malden on Tuesday August 29th at 10am with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery to follow.  Visitation will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden Monday August 28th from 6-8pm.
