Joseph T. Nicholson, a lifelong resident of Malden, passed away suddenly on January 1st at the age of 67. Joe was born in Malden in 1957, the son of Albert and Marjorie Nicholson. He was raised and educated in Malden, graduating from Malden High School with the Class of 1975. He went into the construction field, working mostly as a roofer, until a serious accident forced his early retirement. Joe was active in the community, and was a member of the Malden Order of Eagles, the American Legion Post 69, the East Side AA, and the Italian American Citizens Club. He loved celebrating Halloween and Christmas, and will be fondly remembered for acting as Santa Clause for various groups around the city for many many years.
He is survived by his daughter, Nadine Nicholson of Methuen, his brother John Nicholson and his wife Donna Nicholson of Everett, his sister Carol Bateson of Tewksbury, his granddaughter Ariana Castiello, his cousins Elaine and Marjorie, and his nieces and nephews, Katie, Christopher, Kimberly, Shannon, Kristen, Karl, and Tracey.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Marjorie Nicholson, and his brother James Nicholson.
Funeral services will be held at the Weir – MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Monday, January 6th, at 11 AM, with visitation beginning at 9 AM. Interment will immediately follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
