Maria Cogliano Obituary

Maria Catina (Bellanti) Cogliano, a longtime resident of East Boston, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023. Maria was born in Sicily in 1941, the daughter of Salvatore and Fanny Bellanti. While still a teenager, the family moved to the United States in 1955, first arriving in East Boston. After marrying her sweetheart, Gerardo Cogliano, they settled down to raise their family in Saugus before relocating to Wakefield. Maria was a skilled seamstress, and enjoyed sewing. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sons, Salvatore Cogliano, wife Pam of Malden, and Michael Cogliano, wife Lisa of Chelmsford, her sisters, Maria Carideo of FL, Grace Wall of WI, Josephine Fazio of FL, and Rosa Lembo of FL, and her grandchildren, Valerie, Andrew, Alex, Anthony, Nicholas, and Carli.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gerardo.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 17th, at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden at 12 noon, and visitation will be held from 10 – 12 AM. Entombment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
