Maria Guillen-Arevalo, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away suddenly in Boston on Friday, December 22. Maria was born in El Salvador in 1947, the daughter of Miguel Flores and Consuelo Guillen. She was raised and educated in El Salvador. After marrying her sweetheart, the two settled down to raise their family. With their children already living in the United States, Maria and Francisco moved to the Boston area in 2001, first living in Everett before settling down in Malden. A loving housewife and mother, Maria loved to cook , pray and have family over for meals.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Francisco Arevalo, her children, Maria Arevalo of Everett, and Francisco Arevalo Jr. of Malden, her siblings, Alicia Guillen, Leticia Guillen, Lolita Guillen, Angel Guillen, and Noe Guillen all of El Salvador, and Rolando Guillen of Malden, as well as 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Maria was preceded in death by her son Francico Arevalo Jr.
Funeral services will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden on Wednesday, December 27th at 10 AM, with visitation beginning at 8 AM. . Interment will follow Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
