Marthyla Pierre

Marthyla Pierre passed away February 19th 2023. Marthyla was born in Desdunes Haiti, the son
of St. Jean Pierre and Saintamise Jonathas Pierre. He married Merzilie (Alsaintdort) in 1966 and then settled in Cambridge, Massachusetts to raise their children Cilia, Veronique, Wilforce, Pierre Fils, Kerline, Janice, Charlotine Sheila, Dotty, and Bianca Anne. While in Haiti Marthyla developed a strong work ethic by working on his family's farm to help his parents provide for the family. When Marthyla immigrated to the United States his strong work ethic continued and this helped him immigrate his family to the United States. In his free time Marthyla loved dancing to his favorite bands Tropicana and Septen, he loved watching wrestling, the Celtics basketball games and Haitian movies such as Jesifra. He also liked to play the lottery and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children Cilia Pierre and husband St. Louis L. Charles, Veronique Pierre, Wilforce Pierre and wife Teri, Pierre Fils Pierre and wife Chantale, Kerline Pierre and husband Lemont, Janice Pierre and husband Judes Louis, Charlotine Sheila Pierre and husband Provilon Duverge, Dotty Pierre, Bianca Anne Pierre, his grandchildren Nasheline and husband Johnny, Janet, Evander and wife Damarys, Akeem, Ashley, Kathia, Bryan, Deborah, Karen, Kenisha, Daniel, Shaun, Vanessa, Lilly, Darius and Bella, his great grandchildren Ellias and Harley, his siblings Thelemaque Pierre, Anne Pierre, Jonathas Pierre, Charlotine Omel, Germaine Jules, Mondestin Pierre, Yvette Previlon,Francois Pierre, Duval Pierre and Andrea Volcy as well as many close nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

He is predeceased by his wife Merzilie Pierre and his brother Pierre St. Jean.

Visitation for Marthyla will be held Friday March 3rd at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral
Home, 144 Salem St. Malden from 4-8pm. A funeral service will be held Saturday March 4th at
St John the Evangelist Church 2254 Massachusetts Avenue Cambridge, MA 02140 at 10am followed by an interment at Woodlawn in Everett.
