Matthew A. Barreiro Jr. of Nashua, New Hampshire, passed away on June 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, he was the son of Matthew and Emily (LaScola) Barreiro. Matthew was the devoted husband of Emily (Fasulo) Barreiro and the beloved father of Michele Soulard, Dawn Veazie, Derek Barreiro, and the late Matthew Barreiro. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time outdoors. A devoted sports fan, especially of baseball, he spent many years coaching Little League.
Matthew is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Emily Barreiro of Nashua, New Hampshire; his children, the late Russell Soulard and wife Michele Soulard of Amherst, New Hampshire, Robert and Dawn Veazie of Woburn, Massachusetts, and Derek Barreiro of Kissimmee, Florida; his siblings, Stevie Barreiro, Nancy Perreault, and Mark Barreiro; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren, along with many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Matthew was predeceased by his parents, Matthew and Emily Barreiro; his son, Matthew Barreiro III; and his siblings, Sam Barreiro and Joseph Barreiro.
Visitation for Matthew will be held at Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church in Malden on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 10 a.m., with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
