Joan P. (LaRiviere) Graham passed away early Tuesday morning, May 2, 2012, at her home in Amesbury, she was 79. Born on September 29, 1932 in Malden, she was the daughter of the late Eugene F. and Pauline D. (Nickerson) LaRiviere. Joan married her sweetheart, Roger A.P. Graham on June 29, 1952. Joan and Roger spent over 47 years in marriage together; raising and caring for their family, until Roger's passing in June of 1999. Joan worked for many years in the Malden school system as a food server. While she worked for many Malden schools throughout her career, Joan spent a good deal of her time serving the students in the Glendale School. Joan was an avid BINGO player and enjoyed time spent solving word search puzzles. She also spent many fun times bowling in different leagues with her husband. Joan was a kind and gentle soul; she made many friends throughout the years both in Malden and in Amesbury. Her caring spirit showed in her love for cats and, more recently, chickens on her son's farm. Through all of her life's interests and enjoyments, Joan's true passion was always dedicated spending time and keeping touch with her loving family.

Joan is survived by her children , Ward P. Graham, and his wife, Susan A. of Amesbury, Debra L. DeSimone and her husband, Robert J. of Atkinson, NH, and Roger A. Graham of Amesbury and his wife, Karen L. of Malden, her grandchildren, Sean Graham of Amesbury, Stephen Graham of Seattle, WA, Lenore Romatelli of Barrington, NH, Robert DeSimone of Plaistow, NH, Pauline Valente of Rensselaer, NY, Marc Graham of Malden, Andrew Graham of Beverly, and Christopher Graham of Malden, and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Grace ("Dolly") LaRiviere of Medford, niece Janine (LaRiviere) Alexander of Wareham and nephew Eugene F. ("Jay") LaRiviere, III of Malden.

In addition to her husband and parents, Joan was preceded in death by her daughter, Christine J. ("Gissy") Graham and her brother Eugene F. LaRiviere, II.

A funeral service will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 2 PM. Burial will follow in the Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.

Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, May 6, 2012 from 4 to 8 PM.
