Mrs. Kathleen Ann Strong

Kathleen A. (Somerville) Strong passed away on Friday, August 3, 2012 in the Colonial Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Weymouth, she was 83. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on July 10, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William and Matilda (Hyndman) Somerville. Kathleen was raised and educated in Kinlough, Co. Leitrim, Ireland. Prior to moving permanently to the United States in the 1960's, Kathleen worked as a nanny in both the United Sates and Canada. She married her sweetheart, William James Strong in Ireland in 1961, the couple returned to the United States, settling in Malden to begin their family. Kathleen and William spent almost forty years in marriage together until William's passing in January of 2001. The couple lived in Malden until 1982 before moving to Melrose and then Wakefield. Kathleen was a dedicated mother and caregiver and spent many years working as a nanny. Through all of her life's travels and treasures, Kathleen true passion was always for her loving family members and friends.

Kathleen is survived by her four daughters: M. Karen Hamilton of Tyngsboro, Kathleen Ann S. Catts of Stafford, VA, Sheila S. Toomey of Weymouth, and Sandra I. Molettieri of Pelham, NH, her grandchildren; Heather, Helena, and Alec Hamilton, Benjamin and William Catts, Brianna E.S. Toomey, and Melissa and Megan Molettieri, her sister; Mary Hamilton of Belfast, Northern Ireland as well as many loving members of her extended family overseas.

In addition to her parents and husband, Kathleen was preceded in death by her brothers; John and William Somerville, formerly of Northern Ireland.

A funeral Mass will be held in the St. Paul's Episcopal Parish, 26 Washington Street, Malden on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 10 AM. Burial will follow at the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.

Visitation will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Monday, August 6, 2012 from 4 to 8 PM.
