Mrs. Norva M. Leach

Norva M. (McGranahan) Leach, 86, a lifelong resident of Malden, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare of Melrose in Melrose, Massachusetts. She was born March 31, 1925 in Melrose, MA. the daughter of Norvin G. and Jennie (McAndrews) McGranahan. Norva graduated from Malden High with the Class of 1943. She then attedned Lesley University where she recieved her degree in Education. She worked as a teacher in the Malden School system, as well as in Leominster and Maine. In 1954, she and Ralph M. Leach Jr were married in the Center United Methodist Church in Malden. They settled down in Malden to raise their family, at which time Norva retired from the school system. While growing up in Malden, Norva was a member of the Rainbow Girls. She continued to be involved in the community later in life by joining the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband Ralph M. Leach Jr of Malden, her son, Norvin M. Leach and wife Elizabeth of Washington, and her grandchildren, Thayer N. and Finley E. Leach.

Aside from her parents, Norva was preceded in death by her 2 brothers Donald V. McGranahan and Harvey S. McGranahan..

Visitation for Norva will be held at the Weir - MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Wednesday, April 27th, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM And from 7:00PM to 9:00PM. Funeral services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St.Watertown, MA 02472 or to the charity of ones choice
