Neil (Corneilus Francis) Olson 

Neil (1/14/72) was called home to God’s loving arms on Sunday March 16th, suddenly after a time of declining health. 

Born and raised in Malden, Neil lived most recently in Nashua, NH. He was a talented craftsman, graduating from Northeast Regional Vocational School in 1990, and then spending his career working in the construction industry around greater Boston. 

Neil had a great sense of humor and loved to share his favorite latest reel with you or be the architect of a good practical joke which he could pull off with perfection. 

Neil had a competitive spirit.  In his youth he enjoyed skiing and playing hockey.  As an adult when he had down time you could find him on a golf course somewhere, where he took his winning very seriously. Neil had a special place in his heart for Newfound Lake in NH, where he spent a lot of time since he was very young, He loved fishing on the lake and playing cribbage as often as possible both activities he claimed to be quite good at. Though his brothers may have an opinion or two on which was better his cribbage skills or his trash talking and rumor has it most of the fish caught were the tall tale variety. He also loved bowling with his friends and was a member of several leagues over the years. 

Underneath Neil’s tough exterior was a gentle soul who found his strength living one day at a time within the recovery community for most of his adult life. He had a broad network of beloved friends here and he loved to travel each year to annual conventions around the Northeast. He was a source of support for many over the years who were just starting their recovery journey, knowing all too well the joys and challenges it could bring. If Neil wasn’t sending you a funny reel, he was sending you a touching sound, or meme, that he made him think of you or he found inspiration in and that he wanted to share. 

Neil is survived by his life partner of nearly 10 years Kerri Gerossie, his siblings Nancy and husband Bill, Richard and husband Richard, Ken and wife Jaime, his many nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his step father Kenny Minasian, his good friend Randy Comito and his friends from the recovery community. Neil was predeceased by his father Dicky (1973) and his mother Joyce (2018). 

Funeral services will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home on Monday, March 24th at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Josephs Church, Malden, at 10 AM.  Visitation will be held for Neil at the funeral home on Sunday, March 23rd, from 3 - 7 PM.
