Orlando Anthony Conforti
Orlando Anthony Conforti, 81, a longtime resident of Malden, died Sunday, March 13, 2011 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was born in 1929 in East Boston, the son of Anthony Conforti. and Angelina (Cuoco) Lopilato. Orlando was raised in Revere, attending the local schools system there. Like many of his time, he left school early to enlist in the US Marines. He served for three years in the Marines, where he was trained as a "cannoneer", and saw time in the Caribbean. He was discharged honorably in 1950, and he returned to the Malden Area. In April of 1958, Orlando married Lucille Guida in Sacred Heart's Parish and the two settled down together in Malden to raise their family. They shared 52 years together until Orlando's passing.
Orlando worked for the FAA as a construction supervisor. He oversaw the building of many airport towers, including the one at Logan Airport. He had a great love of aviation, and went on to get his private pilots license. He loved flying, and enjoyed being able to take friends and family on airplane rides.
He is survived by his wife Lucille, his daughters, Donna M. and husband John Reppucci of Saugus, MA, Patricia A. and husband Paul G. Redmond of Wakefield, his son Orlando A. Conforti Jr. and wife Cindy M. of Peabody, MA, his sisters Rita Kane and Jean Conforti both of Pittsfield, his brother Louis G. Lopilato of NM, and his grandchildren, John, Gina, Kristina, Patrick, Anthony, and Olivia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Conforti; his mother Angelina (Cuoco) Conforti Lopilato and his brother Joseph A. Conforti;
Funeral services will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Friday, March 18th, at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts Church at 10:00AM. Burial will be follow in Forest Dale Cemetery , Malden.
Visitation will be at Weir - MacCuish Funeral Home on Thursday, March 17th, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
