Phyllis A. McGrath of Medford, passed away on September 7th 2022. Phyllis was born in
Malden on February 11th 1936, the daughter of Peter and Vitaline (LeBlanc) Meuse.
She was raised in Malden and graduated from the Cheverus High School with the Class
of 1954. Phyllis married Alphonse Babin in 1957 who passed away in 1964. She then
married William McGrath in 1972. Phyllis was a wonderful homemaker and mother to
her five children Andrew, Kenneth, Denise, Diane and Michelle.
Phyllis is survived by children Andrew Babin and his longtime partner Marion Leary,
Kenneth Babin, Denise Bresnahan and her husband Stephen, Diane Keogh and her
late husband William, and Michelle Udden and her wife Stacey; 8 grandchildren Eirinn,
Meghan, William, Caitlin, Ashlee, Kelsie, Colin and Anthony; 7 Great Grandchildren
Aislinn, Layla, Rhiannon, William Jr, Rose, Theodore and Noelle; her sisters Loretta
Ivone and Sister Irma Meuse SP as well as many other nieces, nephews, family
members and friends.
Phyllis was predeceased by her first husband Alphonse Babin, her second husband
William McGrath and her siblings Gerald Surette, Joseph Surette, Ethel Welsh, Robert
Meuse and Joseph Meuse.
Visitation for Phyllis will be held on Tuesday September 13th from 4-7 at Weir-MacCuish
Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden. Funeral services will be held for
Phyllis at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on
Wednesday September 14th , at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred
Hearts Church, 315 Main Street Malden at 10 AM. Interment to follow in Oak Grove
Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Sisters of Providence in
Phyllis’ name. Donations can be sent to: Sisters of Providence, Advancement Services
