Rachael McBrine Obituary

Marie Jean “Rachel” (Dube) McBrine, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27th, at the age of 98.

Born in Biddeford, Maine, in 1927, Rachel was one of thirteen children to Albani and Diana Dube. She was raised and educated in Maine, where she learned the values of family, resilience, and kindness that she carried throughout her life.

In 1953, Rachel moved to the Boston area and made her home in Somerville. She worked for many years as a receptionist at Youville Hospital in Cambridge, where her warm smile and kind spirit welcomed many. She retired in 1992 after a dedicated career. In 2000, she relocated to Malden, where she cherished her later years in the company of those she loved most.

Rachel was the loving mother of William McBrine and his wife Margaret of Malden, Richard McBrine and his wife Judy of Onset, Paul McBrine of Malden, and Robert McBrine and his wife Anne of Baldwinville. She was predeceased by her son Jon “Jackie” McBrine and her daughter Judy Teixeira. Rachel is also survived by her niece Maureen McPeak-Hayes of Somerville, and her son-in-law Ralph Teixeira of Tewksbury.

Known lovingly as “Nana”, Rachel’s legacy lives on in her ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Rachel will be remembered for her witty humor, her deep love of family, and the quiet strength that guided her through life. She brought joy to every occasion with her delicious baked goods, from her famous chocolate chip cookies and whoopie pies to her apple pies and cupcakes. Her gentle spirit, kindness, and compassion touched everyone she met, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved.
