Raoul Joseph Obituary

Raoul E. Joseph, a retired senior chemist and teacher, passed away on Wednesday ,September 30th, surrounded by his loving family in his home.  Raoul was born in 1945 in Haiti, the son of Davilmar Joseph and Ermite Lumarque.  He was raised and educated in Haiti, and then came to the United States to attend college. In 1978 he settled in the Boston area.  He received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, before getting his Graduate degree in Chemistry from Northeastern University.  He also worked as a Science teacher for English High School in Boston. He then took employment with the Mass Water Research Authority, where he was their Senior Chemist. He retired in 2005., After retirement he was employed at various high schools as a permanent substitute teacher in Sciences, French, and calculus.   

Raoul proudly spoke four languages fluently.  He could also sing in a couple other languages. A classicly trained Tenor, Raoul loved to sing, and was part of the Harvard Radcliff Choir and Masterworks Chorale in Boston. He also sang at St. Joseph's Church in Medford. He enjoyed opera, reading French literature, dancing the calypso, and listening to Harry Bellefonte.

"Raoul is survived by his present wife, Kimberly Stieglitz-Joseph and his children Regine Joseph Boursiquot, Patrick Joseph, Dominique Joseph, and Stephanie Joseph., his siblings, Estervia Joseph and family, Marlene & Rubbens Jules, Irma and William Descilien, Serge L. Sabbat and family. Jonel and Viviane Bellegarde, Bellande Bellegarde and family, his nieces and nephews, Linda Joseph. Betty Descilien Dunkan, Odavnia Descilien, Michael Descilien, Francine Sabbat,Fabienne Sabbat, Robinson Sabbat, Jackson Sabbat, Otegia Sabbat, Joviane Bellegarde, Ricardo Bellegarde , Manoushka Kernizan, Katisha Bellegarde, Bellanda Bellegarde, Fernando Bellegarde, Leopold Bellegarde , Vicky Jules, Olivier Jules., his aunt in law, Altagrace Lumarque and family , and notable Cousins and Families:, Victor Jean Jacques. Carine Lumarque. Marie Camel Christian , Beatrice Lumarque, Regina Benjamin, Idelmonde (Yvrose) Lumarque, Carol Cénat, Jean Robert and Maude Cénat, Mimose and Jacques Michel, Harry Cénat, Martha and Frantz Adam, Kettely Pierre, Moise and Yolène Pierre, Daniella Lumarque ,Hugue and Resia Lumarque, Webert and Marie-Ange Lumarque, Yvon and Guerline Lumarque,Carmel Lumarque, as well as 3 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, on Friday, October 7th, at 8:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Josephs Church, Medford, at 10 AM.  Interment to follow in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.   Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 6th, from 5 -9 PM.
