Rita MacDonald Obituary

Rita (Doyle) MacDonald 86, passed away surrounded by her beloved family October 22nd. The daughter of William and Barbara (Molloy) Doyle Rita was born in Malden and raised in Charlestown until her parents moved to Medford in the early 50's. In the late 70's Rita moved to California where she worked as a telephone operator till leaving the state to come home and care for her mom. She settled in Nashua NH. Rita was the beloved wife of the late Jack MacDonald. Rita loved reading, playing cribbage & London rummy, and her love for animals was immense. Her greatest love was music and singing and she was known for being “the songbird of Southie”.

Rita is survived by her children Billy Doyle & his wife Michelle of New Market, Rick Pires of Nashua, Juli Aloise of Everett, Cat Wheeler and her late husband Raymond of Ashland and Roberta Pires of Lynn, her grandchildren Ashley “Ashleigh” Moore, William “Paddy” Cook, Jonathan “Jon Jon” Mitton, Nikki “noodle” Pires, Stephanie “Seven” Aloise, Justin Murphy, Brittany “Cookie” Cook, Julia “Julie Rae” Wheeler, Montana “Tanny” Doyle and Joseph “Jophus” “Doyle, her great grandchildren Francis Cook, Jack Moore, Boden Moore and Callahan Moore, her beautiful niece Brenda and many nieces and nephews as well as many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly. Rita was predeceased by her parents William and Barbara Doyle, her husband Jack MacDonald, her son David Murphy, her grandson William Howard and her sisters Peggy Sheehan and Kathy Delbene.

Visitation will be held at the Weir Family Funeral home in Malden from 4-8 pm on Friday November 1st followed by a funeral service Saturday November 2nd at the funeral home at 10 am
