Robert James Morrison

Robert James Morrison, 89 of Malden, Massachusetts died on Sunday, May 13, 2012, at the Winchester Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Winchester, Massachusetts.

Bob was born August 4, 1922 in Utica, New York, the son of Robert I. and Mae A. (Cummings) Morrison. He moved to Malden at an early age and graduated from Malden High School with the Class of 1941. He later attended Boston University where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Business.

Bob enlisted in the US Army in 1942. He served in Europe during WWII, and was discharged honorably in November of 1945, having earned the rank of Tech 3.

In 1947, Bob married his sweetheart, Mary G. Pellegrino at St. Joseph's Church in Malden, MA. They settled down in Medford for about 20 years until moving back to Malden in 1968. Bob and Mary shared nearly 65 years of marriage together.

Bob was an accomplished artist who preferred to work in watercolor. He had served as past president of the Reading Art Association. He was active with the Bridge Club at the Melrose Senior Citizen Center, and in years past served as Lector at the Immaculate Conception Church. He also was a musician, and played flute starting with the Malden High School Orchestra, and later with the Needham Philharmonic. In his free time, Bob enjoyed settling down to read a book.

He is survived by his wife Mary G. (Pellegrino) Morrison, his son, Kenneth E. Morrison and wife Gail of York, ME, and his grandchildren, Lynne, Kevin and Michael and his soon to be born great-granddaughter Michaela.

He was predeceased by his parents, Robert I. and Mae A. Morrison, and his sister, Jean Sciuto, and his great grandson, Jack.

Funeral services will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Wed, May 16th, at 10:30AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church, at 11:30AM. Interment to follow in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Weir Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, Massachusetts.
