Robert D. "Bob" Peavey
Robert D. Peavey, a long-time resident and business owner in Malden passed away on Monday morning, November 26, 2012 with his family by his side, he was 69. Born in Dorchester on May 27, 1943, he was the son of the late Charles M. and Christine H. (Scannell) Peavey. Bob was raised in Malden and educated in Everett at the Everett Vocational School. In 1966, Bob and his brother, Brian, went in to business starting PV Performance Center on Salem Street in Malden. The shop quickly took off, selling performance and custom racing accessories. Over time, PV Performance had expanded to eight locations and became one of the regions top wholesale distributors across Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. The main store is still in business today, located across from Pine Banks Park being managed by Mike Goffredo, Bob's lifelong friend. Bob was truly fortunate to be successful in a business he loved. He retired from PV Performance in 2005 to spend more time with his family.
Bob had many life passions. Fitness and health were important to Bob; he loved to exercise, body-build and stay in shape. He loved to take long walks daily, Pine Banks in Malden and Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield being his favorite spots. Bob also was an accomplished musician. He played drums for The Jupiters, a local rock 'n roll band that played in Boston and local clubs in the 60's. Bob was a huge fan of NHRA Drag Racing and would go all over to see the races. Through all of his life's accomplishments and interests, Bob truly was a family man who was devoted entirely to his loving family. "Pop-Pop" cherished the times he was able to play with his grandson, Ayden, taking him to the local parks and on neighborhood strolls. Bob will no doubt be missed by all that his spirit touched.
Bob is survived by his wife of 31 years, Joanne Peavey of Malden, his children; Robert D. Peavey, Jr. of Methuen and Laura A. Peavey of Malden, his adoring grandson, Ayden Peavey of Danvers, his siblings, Brian E. Peavey of Lynnfield, Nancy C. White of Ipswich, Gerald F. Peavey of Melrose, and Daniel T. Peavey of Stockbridge, GA.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Charles R. Peavey.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 30, 2012 in the First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St. Wakefield at 11 AM. Pastor Richard Weisenbach will be presiding. Interment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
