Robert L. Shannon

Robert (Bob/Bobby) L. Shannon of Reading, Massachusetts peacefully passed away on March 21st, 2024, at the age of 82. Bob was born in Malden, Massachusetts on July 12th, 1941 to parents John and Dorothy Shannon. He grew up in Malden, graduating from Malden High School with the class of 1960. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Sharon in 1963, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2023. Bob operated a successful business, Star Upholstery, in Malden for more than 4 decades and continued to advise long time clients until 2023. He was a great hockey player, playing recreationally into his sixties and a life-long fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. Bob and Sharon raised their 3 children in Malden surrounded by great-grandparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and a large circle of friends. Bob is survived by his wife Sharon Shannon (Wortman) of Reading, MA; sister Marjorie Goodwin (Shannon) of Plaistow, NH; daughter Laurie Shannon of Dedham, MA; son and son-in-law Robert Shannon, Jr. and Gregory Whitehead of Medford, MA; son and daughter-in-law Todd Shannon and Karen Winiarczyk of Beverly, MA; grandchildren Tyler Shannon and Les Shannon; and brother-in-law/sister-in-law Dana and Eleanor Cushing of Malden, MA. A funeral service will take place at the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. in Malden on Tuesday, March 26th, at 5:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m.  All are welcome to celebrate Bob’s life.
