Rosalie M. Giunta

Rosalie Mary (Lombardo) Giunta passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2012 in the comfort of her home while surrounded by her loving family, she was 85. Born in East Boston on February 20, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Sebastiana (Bertolino) Lombardo. Rosalie was raised and educated in East Boston. After finishing school, she went to work as a stitcher, making various garments for local businesses. On October 5, 1952, Rosalie married the love of her life, Michael J. Giunta, in East Boston. Rosalie and Michael settled in East Boston to begin their family. The couple would have celebrated 60 years in marriage together this October. In 1960, the Giunta family eventually relocated to Malden for a larger home to accommodate their growing family. After her children were older, Rosalie went back to work stitching, doing piece work and making articles of clothing such as blazers and skirts. She was a long-time member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union. In her later years, Rosalie was also a member of the Italian Americans Club of Revere as well as the Patriots Club in Revere.

Rosalie is survived by her husband. Michael J. Giunta of Malden, her children, Catherine Quinn of Malden, Sandra Spencer and her husband John of Saugus, Michael Giunta and his wife Susan of Danvers, and Ronald Giunta and his wife Charlene of Peabody, her sister, Lena Amico of Tewksbury, eight grandchildren as well as four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Rosalie was preceded in death by her siblings, Giacomo Lombardo, Rose Lomuscio, and Mary Picardi.

Funeral from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St. Malden, on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 8 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church, 770 Salem St. Malden at 9 AM. Interment will immediately follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 from 4 to 8 PM.
