Shan Karthigesu

Shan Karthigesu, a longtime resident of Stoneham, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, a the age of 69.   Shan was born in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, in 1955.  He was raised an educated in Sri Lanka.  After moving to the United States, Shan settled down in the Boston area. In February of 1997, he married his sweetheart, Sorubanithy, and the two began raising their family.  20 years ago they moved to Stoneham, where hey have resided since.   In his spare time Shan enjoyed listening to music and watching movies.
He is survived by his wife Sorubanithy, his daughters, Mathangi Shan and Mythreayi Shan of Stoneham, and his siblings, Sundaralindam Karthigesu, Thaiyalnayaki Sivalingam, Kamalathevi Jegatheeswaran, Vimalathevi Prabakaran, and Mallika Karthigesu, all of Montreal, Canada.
Shan was preceded in death by his siblings, Kandsamy Karthigesu, Sivapakiyam Karthigesu, and Parameswari Nagarasa.
 Funeral services will be held in the Weir MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Monday, January 27th, at 9:30.  Cremation services will immediately follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, from 4 – 8 PM.
