Shirley Mae Scuteri, a resident of Malden, passed away on Tuesday January 24th. Shirley
was born in Wauwatosa Wisconsin on November 15 th 1934, the daughter of Henry and
Theresa (Schampel) Label. Shirley grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from the Rufus
King High School in Milwaukee, she later went on to marry Peter Scuteri in August of 1957
where they shared 55 years of marriage together.
Shirley had many jobs such as 4 th grade Sunday school teacher and chairman of the flower
committee at the First Congregational Church of Malden, working as a telephone operator,
working at Mass General Hospital and selling Avon products but her favorite job was being
a mother to her four children Derek, Diane, Donna and Dorothy.
Shirley enjoyed spending her free time with family and friends. As an avid book reader, she
loved to read mysteries and thrillers as well as watching various TV mystery series on PBS
stations. She enjoyed sewing and making clothes for her daughters. Shirley was also a
prolific cook and baker in which what will be our most cherished memory is when she baked
special Hungarian Christmas treats to enjoy during the holiday season. Shirley was also a
past member of the Holzhacker Bavarian Dance Club in Wisconsin.
She is survived by her children, Derek Scuteri, Diane McTague, Donna Solomon and
Dorothy Flanagan, her sister Elizabeth Archibald of Wisconsin, and her grandchildren
Darrell, Devon, Mikalah, Jessi and Joshua as well as many other family members and
friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Peter Scuteri, her siblings Dorothy Schiera,
Theresa Woods, Fred Joseph and Vera “Honey” Mueller, and her parents Henry and
Theresa Label.
Visitation for Shirley will be held on Saturday January 28th from 9-10 with a service at the funeral home at 10 and interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody to follow.
