Surenthra "Baba" Thurairatnam

Surenthra Thurairatnam passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of May18th, 2022. Son of late Thurairatnam and Naguleswary, beloved husband of Jayanthy, proud father to Luxman and Arujun, son in law of late Navaratnam(Thevar), Yogaratnam, , and dutiful brother of Jeyanthy (Shirley, Boston), Kalanithy (Norway), Lavinthra (Toronto), Thamayanthy (Texas), Suganthy (London), Nagulenthra (Guatemala), Narenthra (Connecticut) and Kajenthra (Boston). He’s the beloved brother in-law of Puvirajasingam, Krishnarajah, Yaso, late David Mohan, Sritharan, Elika, Jeyakumar,  Sujatha, Vijitha, and Kalyani.
 
After growing up in Neervely, Jaffna, Surenthra immigrated to the USA in late 85, and found home in Boston, MA. He has been a consistent pillar to the Boston Tamil community, having served in the BTA on multiple occasions, volunteering his time and efforts to strengthen the Sri Lankan Tamil community. Furthermore, many can attest to Surenthra's perseverance and commitment towards the fight for justice. He was always at the forefront of any community gathering, dedicated and passionate for the wellbeing of Tamils back home. He was a member of Parliament and the Finance Minister for the Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) for New England.
 
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 25th, from 4:30 PM-7:30 PM at the Weir MacCuish Family Funeral Home in 144 Salem St Malden MA. A funeral service will be held on May 26th at the same location, starting at 12 PM, with cremation services to follow. In lieu of flowers , donations can be made to NOW WOW or American Cancer Society.
