Theresa Helen Fennessey
Theresa H. (Lavertue) Fennessey of Tewksbury, formerly a long-time resident of Malden, passed away in the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Malden on Friday, May 25, 2012, she was 73. Born on September 14, 1938 in Franklin, NH, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Turgeon) Lavertu. Theresa was raised and educated in Franklin and was a graduate of Franklin High School. During high school, Theresa went to work as a switchboard operator for the New Hampshire Telephone Company. It was there she met her first husband, Fred Svenson. She and Fred eventually matriculated to Arkansas were she was working at a concession stand. The couple eventually moved back to Tilton, NH and before settling in Everett. Theresa eventually found employment with the United Engineers and Constructors in Boston as an administrative assistant. She met James E. Fennessey while working for the company. James and Theresa were married on July 3, 1969. They spent over 21 in marriage together, raising and caring for their family, until James' passing in June of 1991. Theresa retired from the United Engineers and Constructors in the early 1980's to help assist James in the running of his business, Fennessey Engineering. After James' passing, his company dissolved and Theresa went to work for CVS in Malden Square where she worked for the past 20 years until retiring in 2010. Theresa had various interests and passions in her life, including traveling and bowling, but her true passion was always being with her loving family.
Theresa is survived by her children, Catherine Leftin of Hillsboro, NH, Robert Svenson of Spring Valley, CA, Tracey Dalleva of Saugus, and Lynn Jones of Tewksbury, twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and her sister, Madeline Owen of Tilton, NH. She is also survived by 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
Funeral will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts Church, 297 Main Street, Malden at 10 AM. Interment will follow in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Monday, May 28, 2012 for 4 to 8 PM.
