William Libby Obituary

William A. “Bill” Libby, a retired Foreman in the Plastics industry, returned to his heavenly father on Thursday, February 22, at his home in Danvers.  Bill was born in Portland, Maine in 1939, the son of Paul and Doris Libby.  He was raised and educated in Maine, graduating from Westbrook High School.   In 1963, he married his sweetheart, Veronica “Vonnie” Kelly in Sharon, MA.  The two first lived in Nahant before settling down in Beverly where they raised their family.

After high school, Bill served our country by enlisting in the Air Force Reserves.  He began as a driver for Cushman's Bakery.  He then worked at Webster Industries, before becoming a Foreman at Port Polly in Salem, NH.  He ended his career working at Lahey Clinic in Peabody.  He was hired to work in Security, but later moved to their Records Department.

Bill was a big fan of science fiction, and was fascinated with anything space related.  He loved baseball and was a diehard Red Sox fan.  While he loved the Red Sox, he never loved the Red Sox Manager (always a "Bum").  He also enjoyed watching football.  He had a great knowledge of Native American culture, with that being part of his family history.  He also loved Ireland, his second home.  Ireland brought him the Love of his life, Vonnie.  Vonnie took loving care of Bill most of his life, but especially at his life's end.

Bill is survived by his wife Veronica "Vonnie" Libby, his children Michael Libby of Danvers, Sean Libby of Rochester NH and Michelle MacCuish and husband Edward of Stoneham, his grandchildren Camden, Tyler and Sophie, his sister Jane Francoeur of Yarmouth as well as many othr family members and friends.

He was predeceased by his son Paul Libby.

A celebration of life for Bill will be held at a later date, and he will be buried in his family plot in the Gray Village Cemetery, in Gray, Maine.

Donations in Bills memory may be made to: Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
