Florence Marjorie "Sis" (Fielding) Zaia

Florence M. "Sis" Zaia, a life-long resident of Malden, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2012 in the Melrose - Wakefield Hospital, she was 82. Born in Malden, she was the daughter of the late Joseph E. Fielding and Florence M. (Harding) (Fielding) Plati. Sis was raised and educated in Malden. On July 26, 1954, Sis married her sweetheart, Albert J. Zaia in Malden and the couple settled in Malden to begin their family. Sis and Al spent almost 29 years in marriage together; raising and caring for their family, until Al's passing in April of 1984. In her early years, Sis worked for the Automatic Radio Co. as a piece worker. She also worked for Kel Corporation in the company's stock room. After her daughters were grown, Sis worked delivering medical and dental devices to various offices. She was well known around town as a currier for a variety of dental offices. Sis was an avid bowler; she belonged and played at the Town Line bowling alley in Malden. She was also a long-time member of the Malden Moose Lodge. Sis was also assisted the Saugus Senior Center with their different events such as BINGO and the penny sales.

Florence is survived by her daughters, Barbara Smith of Melrose and Karen Dellemonico of Malden, her siblings, Joseph E. Fielding, Jr. of Malden, Robert Fielding of IL, and Marjorie LaCau of Malden, her grandchildren, Kara DeGuglielmo, Joshua Dellemonico, and Jarred and Jeremy Smith her great-granddaughters, Madelyn DeGuglielmo and Adrianna Morgan as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Florence was preceded in death by her brother, Allen Fielding.

A funeral service will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 10 AM. Burial will follow in the Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden. Rev. Martha A. Dominy, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Malden will be officiating.

Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 4 to 8 PM.
